As Knightley and Whishaw grow a mountain-sized body count around them, sometimes outgrowing them, various other characters are drawn into the kaleidoscopic narrative, with Whishaw still having time to find one to revive the old romance. . The film is sharply directed and the performances of the A-listers are believable, but I found it to fail to live up to its initial promise and drifted into an overly stuffy plot that relied too much on coincidences, gunfire violence, and quirky, unconventional characters. When it all finally came together, I felt like the film was finally taking on an unfortunate escapism somewhere between James Bond fantasy and Le Carré realism. I was wrong, she rocked it. The same goes for Ben Whishaw, who weighs like 45kg. Both of them were completely believable in their roles. I had a blast watching it and binged all 6 episodes in a weekend. Once I started, I was hooked. I’m glad they’re planning a second season because one isn’t enough.
