Avocado Hummus is a union between oriental and Latin American gastronomy. It combines the traditional flavor of chickpea hummus with the creaminess of mashed avocado. The result is an exquisite dressing to accompany different dishes.
And the best part is that it is not difficult to prepare. In just a few minutes, you will have this nutritious side dish ready.
Ingredients
- 1 ripe avocado.
- Cooked chickpeas 400g.
- 1 lemon.
- 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil.
- 2 tablespoons of sesame seeds (you can also add 1 tablespoon tahini).
- 1 clove of garlic.
- Salt and pepper to taste.
- Cilantro (optional).
Preparation
Step 1: Process the chickpeas and sesame seeds
To avoid overloading the food processor (or blender), we will first grind the hard ingredients of the Hummus. Take the previously cooked chickpeas and grind them in the food processor with the olive oil and garlic clove.
Once the chickpea is in the form of a puree you can add the sesame seeds or tahini.
Step 2: Add the avocado flesh
Take the avocado and cut it in half. Remove the pit with a knife and then scoop out all the flesh with a spoon.
We must take the pulp and add it to the food processor. If your food processor or blender is not too powerful, you could add the avocado in small pieces and blend the avocado separately with a tablespoon of olive oil. In case you like its flavor, you could add the cilantro in this step.
Step 3: Mix all the ingredients together
Then mix the mashed avocado with the paste made with the chickpeas and sesame seed in the food processor. At this point, you can add the lemon juice, salt and pepper.
Just add the salt and pepper a little at a time, and taste until it is to your liking. Some people prefer to prepare avocado hummus without salt, because the sesame seeds already include salt. But prepare it as you like.
Step 4: The decorative part (Optional)
If you want your Hummus to impress your guests, you could spend a few minutes to give it a better presentation. By simply adding some uncrushed sesame seeds and a little olive oil, the Hummus will look exquisite. Others prefer to add some ground chili.
